WASTED MONEY, TIME AND ENERGY: In case anyone has missed it on the post about Nick Boles, this is a comment made against that Telegraph article by a worker in the oil industry.
I work in the oil industry in the offshore construction side. Now the offshore windfarms are installed by unsurprisingly, offshore construction firms that primarily work in the oil sector.
But here is a difference. A few lads I know worked on the Sheringham Shoal offshore windfarm installation and one I know actually quit because of the unbelievable waste of money it was. Because the installation is essentially been done using taxpayer money (and run by Statoil a Norwegian oil company) the actual speed of installation was snail like. No-one cared and the costs because of it were huge. When we work in the commercial sector with the oil majors the pressure is always on to get the job done. When putting in the windfarms it was almost farcical in the lack of pressure to finish because it was not being paid for by people who cared where the money was spent. Like all government projects taxpayer money hangs off the branches of trees to be plucked when needed.
And not one single conventional power station can be taken out of service because of them unless we are prepared to accept blackouts when there isn't any wind. A total utter waste of money and a blight on the environment and of course the energy required to fit them

ALL IT TAKES IS ONE PERSON: From Val Martin, -- he was awake when every one else was sleeping - well done Val, an example to us all !!
'I was the sole objector as Irish Spokesperson for EPAW to the Cloghan Wind farm application for 10 massive turbines near Cloghan, Co Offaly. It was granted by the local council and I appealed to ABP. I received news to day that the application was turned down, refused. The final stages wasa joint approach to the planning based on local assessments and legal assessments based on EU law and the Aarhus convention. I am delighted for the people of the locality who were living on egg shells. It may be appealed to the High Court but that is for another day. The entire project is illegal and if we beat them in this it will be the first time in history that a bout of mass hysteria was stopped before the harm was done.'
